Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Professor Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Based on the societal role of Ain Shams University and its commitment to making an active contribution to monitoring and analyzing social issues and phenomena, and to providing scientific insights that support sustainable development efforts, the Community Observatory at Ain Shams University emerges as a specialized scientific and research platform operating under the umbrella of the Sector of Community Service and Environmental Development.
The observatory is concerned with studying and analyzing social problems and issues within the Egyptian environment through precise scientific analysis, enabling a deeper understanding of social transformations and the challenges facing society. It also contributes to providing scientific perspectives that support decision-makers and assist in formulating policies and initiatives that serve the community.
The observatory also relies on the diverse scientific expertise available at Ain Shams University, advanced research tools, and university, local, and international databases, which enhance its ability to deliver reliable scientific analyses that support development efforts and keep pace with the needs of society.
Within the framework of the observatory’s research role in monitoring contemporary social phenomena, it is currently studying the impact of the increasing use of electronic games on the behavior of university students. This is considered one of the phenomena widely spreading among youth and may be associated with behavioral, social, or academic changes.
From this perspective, the observatory invites university students to participate in the attached survey by answering its questions, thereby contributing to providing accurate scientific data that helps researchers better understand the dimensions of this phenomenon.
This participation comes within the framework of cooperation between students and the university, aiming to reach scientific insights that contribute to proposing practical solutions and positive alternatives that support the conscious use of technology and promote positive behaviors among university youth, achieving the ultimate goal: that the university monitors the issues of society… and that society benefits from science and knowledge.
