Ain Shams Computers and Information Students Win 6 Swimming Medals at the 12th African University Games – Cairo 2026
In a distinguished sporting achievement added to the record of accomplishments of the Faculty of Computers and Information – Ain Shams University, the Faculty’s students excelled during their participation in the 12th African University Games – Cairo 2026, winning six medals in swimming competitions.
Ziad Tarek, a fourth-year student, secured first place and three gold medals in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, and 100m Breaststroke events.
Jana El-Darawy, a first-year student, also achieved first place and two gold medals in the 200m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley events. She additionally won a silver medal and second place in the 100m Butterfly event.
This outstanding sporting participation reflects the diverse talents of the Faculty’s students and their ability to combine academic excellence with sporting achievement.
The achievement comes as part of Ain Shams University’s participation, represented by the Education and Student Affairs Sector – General Administration for Youth Welfare – Sports Activities Administration, in the 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026,” under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rasha Mohamed Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information – Ain Shams University, extends her sincere congratulations to Jana El-Darawy and Ziad Tarek in recognition of this outstanding sporting achievement, praising their exceptional performance and their commitment to representing the Faculty with distinction.
