Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences Organizes an Orientation Day for Its International Programs
Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences (FCIS) organized an orientation day for newly admitted students to introduce them to the Faculty’s international and specialized programs, their academic systems, as well as the academic and practical pathways and career opportunities they offer in line with the evolving needs of the technology job market.
The orientation day aimed to familiarize students and their parents with the various programs and specializations, provide insights into the nature of study and future career prospects, and introduce the opportunity to obtain a dual degree from Ain Shams University and the University of East London (UEL).
The event featured a series of speeches and presentations, beginning with a speech by Prof. Dr. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University. This was followed by a presentation delivered by Dr. Manal Tantawy, Director of the Programs, along with a series of specialized orientation sessions covering the Faculty’s various programs.
The sessions covered the Software Engineering Program, Cybersecurity Program, Digital Multimedia Program, Artificial Intelligence Program, Bioinformatics Program, and Robotics Computing Program. The sessions highlighted the nature of each specialization, its academic and professional fields, and the career opportunities available to graduates.
The orientation day also included a session on the dual-degree system and the agreement with the University of East London (UEL), providing students with an overview of the agreement and the international educational opportunities it offers.
As part of the Faculty’s commitment to connecting academic study with students’ professional development, the program also featured a presentation by the Alumni Unit, followed by a meeting with Faculty alumni, in addition to sessions with representatives from the industry sector. These sessions helped familiarize students with labor market requirements and the practical skills and experience needed by graduates of technology-related disciplines.
The event also featured an introduction to local and international scientific competitions and events in which the Faculty’s students participate and achieve outstanding rankings and accomplishments. These achievements reflect the students’ scientific, technological, and creative capabilities. The event also highlighted some of the Faculty’s most notable achievements in emerging technology fields, as well as student projects and innovations that demonstrate the high level of its students and their ability to compete at both local and international levels.
The orientation day also included a meeting with representatives of the Faculty’s student families. Students and parents were introduced to the role of student families in supporting university life and the scientific, cultural, and technological activities and events they organize. The session also highlighted opportunities for students to participate in projects and scientific activities, develop their skills, and discover their abilities and talents, contributing to the development of well-rounded personalities and enriching their university experience.
The event concluded in an interactive atmosphere, giving students an opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of the various programs and specializations and to ask questions about their studies, fields of specialization, and future career opportunities.
The Faculty emphasized that organizing such events reflects its commitment to supporting students at the beginning of their university journey, helping them choose the academic pathway that best matches their interests and aspirations, and introducing them to the educational and professional opportunities offered by the Faculty’s specialized and international programs.
