The seminar was delivered by Major General Dr. Mohsen Kamal Mohamed El-Shoura, a lecturer at military colleges, a writer and strategic analyst for Al-Defaa magazine, published by the Ministry of Defense, and the former Cultural Counselor at the Egyptian Embassy in the United Kingdom. The seminar was organized as part of the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening national awareness among its students and introducing them to one of the most pivotal events in Egypt’s modern history.

During the seminar, Major General Dr. El-Shoura reviewed the historical sequence of events leading up to the October War, highlighting the political and military challenges and circumstances that characterized that period. He discussed the War of Attrition and its significant role in preparing the Egyptian Armed Forces and enhancing their combat readiness, leading up to the October 6 War and the meticulous planning, preparation, and readiness that preceded the battle.

He also addressed the war’s key milestones and developments, discussing the Israeli military incursion known as the “Deversoir Gap,” the events and challenges associated with it during military operations, and the efforts made by the Egyptian Armed Forces to address these challenges, regain the initiative, and achieve the war’s objectives, as well as the subsequent developments.

The seminar further explored the Arab dimensions of the October War, emphasizing the importance of Arab nationalism and the principles of unity and solidarity among Arab countries and peoples. It highlighted the various forms of support and assistance provided by Arab countries during that period, stressing that solidarity and joint action remain among the most important lessons to be drawn from this historic experience.

The discussion then moved to the post-war period, culminating in the recovery of Taba, highlighting the significant developments and outcomes of this process. The speaker explained the role of political, diplomatic, and legal efforts in completing the process of restoring Egyptian territory. The seminar also highlighted the key lessons learned from this experience, particularly determination, strategic planning, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and adherence to rights.
