The Faculty of Computers and Information at Ain Shams University organized, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sherine Rady, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and attended by Eng. M. M. Amira Samir, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Information Systems, and Eng. Ahmed Hatem, Teaching Assistant in the Department of Software Engineering
An important awareness presentation was given entitled "Understanding the Dark Web: Awareness and Safety". The presentation included a structural explanation of the Internet with a focus on the deep Internet and the dark web, explaining its goals and dangerous uses. The presentation included real examples of incidents that represent the dark side of these networks, such as human exploitation, drug and weapons sales, and data and identity theft.
Among the most prominent incidents highlighted were the case of the “Silk Road”, an online marketplace for selling illegal goods using digital currencies, in addition to the horrific “red rooms” where victims were subjected to live torture online.
In the second part of the event, Ahmed Hatem, a teaching assistant in the Department of Software Engineering, discussed the topic of digital betting and gambling, one of the phenomena that is witnessing widespread spread in the digital age.
