The Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences Launches Awareness Seminar and Blood Donation Convoy

As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment to supporting health initiatives and strengthening its community engagement, the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences organized an awareness seminar alongside a medical blood donation campaign. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Rasha Mohamed Ismail, Dean of the Faculty, with supervision by Prof. Shereen Radi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in coordination with Prof. Mohsen El-Alfi, Professor of Hematology at the Faculty of Medicine and President of the “Sheryan Al-Ataa” Association.

The awareness seminar focused on highlighting the humanitarian and medical importance of blood donation and its critical role in saving lives, particularly for emergency cases, major surgical patients, and individuals suffering from blood-related diseases such as leukemia, thalassemia, and hemophilia. The session also addressed donor eligibility requirements, scientifically proven health benefits of regular blood donation, and common misconceptions associated with the process.

The seminar witnessed strong interaction from students, who actively engaged through discussions, questions, and the sharing of personal experiences related to blood donation, reflecting a growing sense of awareness and social responsibility within the university community.

Alongside the seminar, the faculty launched a medical blood donation campaign at the faculty’s medical clinic and across the university campus, under full medical supervision and in a safe, well-equipped environment. The campaign aimed to facilitate participation by students, faculty members, and staff, while supporting blood banks in meeting ongoing and urgent needs.

The campaign recorded a notable turnout, demonstrating increased awareness among the university community of the humanitarian significance of blood donation and its direct impact on the lives of thousands of patients each year.

Organizers emphasized that Ain Shams University places great importance on health-related and community-driven initiatives and continues to strengthen cooperation with civil society institutions to promote awareness, solidarity, and social responsibility among students. The collaboration was highlighted as a successful model of integration between academic institutions and healthcare partners in serving the wider community.

The event concluded with the faculty administration expressing appreciation to the medical teams and partner initiatives for their valuable efforts and effective cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining similar initiatives in the future to further promote community participation and humanitarian engagement across the University.
