In a new achievement added to the record of accomplishments of the Faculty of Computers and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, the Hacktastic team won first place in the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon for developing smart solutions in the new and renewable energy sector. The hackathon was held as part of the fourth edition of the University Capacity Building Initiative in Artificial Intelligence, organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with Dell Technologies.
The team was awarded first place during the closing ceremony of the initiative. The team was honored by Eng. Raafat Hendy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture; and Eng. Mohamed Amin, Senior Vice President of Dell Technologies for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa, in recognition of the project's excellence and its innovative use of artificial intelligence technologies to serve the new and renewable energy sector.
This achievement was accomplished under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, and Dr. Mona Abdel Azim, Director of the Faculty's Alumni Unit.
This year's initiative witnessed the participation of 1,090 students from 10 Egyptian universities, who submitted 445 projects in various fields of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, 105 students representing 21 teams participated in the hackathon, with 10 teams qualifying for the final stage, where the Hacktastic team from Ain Shams University won first place.

This victory recognizes the innovative project presented by the team under the name "Gadded (جدِّد)," an intelligent platform powered by artificial intelligence technologies to support the transition toward clean energy in the industrial sector.
The platform aims to help factory owners and industrial facilities quickly and accurately assess the technical and economic feasibility of installing solar energy systems. It does so by analyzing a limited set of data provided by the user to provide a clear assessment of the project's suitability, expected return on investment, and required regulatory procedures, while also guiding users to specialized entities and companies capable of implementing the project.
The "Gadded" project aims to empower decision-makers to rely on accurate information before investing in solar energy. This contributes to reducing the time and effort required to conduct preliminary studies, supporting the transition toward clean energy, and utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to provide practical solutions that serve industry and society.
