Under the slogan “Together Towards Academic Excellence,” the Faculty of Computers at Ain Shams University launches an open dialogue to enhance the quality of education and support academic advising.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty, and in a step that reflects the administration’s commitment to building direct communication bridges with its students and involving them in the development of the educational process, the faculty organized an extensive meeting titled “Together Towards Academic Excellence.”

The meeting brought together the leadership of the Quality Assurance Unit and the Academic Advising Unit, along with student representatives from various programs and academic levels. It aimed to support the journey toward academic excellence and to reinforce a culture of active participation, drawing a new roadmap for academic distinction.

Dr. Mariam Nabil, Director of the Academic Advising Unit, presented a comprehensive vision of advising concepts, emphasizing that the unit serves as the primary academic support for students throughout their academic journey. She also explained the philosophy of the credit hour system and graduation requirements, with special attention given to first-year students to help them integrate effectively into the university environment. Additionally, she reviewed the multiple communication channels provided by the unit to ensure quick responses to students’ inquiries and academic needs.

Prof. Dr. Walaa Khaled Bin Al-Waleed, Director of the Quality Unit, also delivered a presentation on the initiative “A New Beginning for Ensuring Quality Education.” She أكد that the student is a key partner in the quality system and the first observer of the educational process, highlighting the role of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education. She also emphasized the importance of student surveys as the students’ voice and a main driver for continuous development and improvement.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Hanan Hendi, Coordinator of the International Degree Program, who addressed students’ questions regarding the requirements for obtaining a degree from the University of East London, as well as the mechanisms for aligning the international program requirements with the faculty’s approved academic plan.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion session marked by transparency and engagement. During this session, the administration of both units listened to the opinions and suggestions of student representatives, and key challenges they face were discussed. It was emphasized that every comment represents a real opportunity for development, and that these meetings are part of a regular series that places students’ interests and the advancement of the educational process at the forefront of the faculty’s priorities.
